Robyn Kinnunen, Executive Assistant

Andy Larsen, Manager
Andy began working for WHWL as a part-time announcer in 1991. Over the years he served as the Traffic Manager, Chief Staff Announcer and news director, working full-time on both the afternoon and morning shifts before becoming the station manager in 2016. Andy still does some on-air work because that's the part of radio that he really enjoys. Andy and his wife Beth have been married since August 2016 and have two children; Andy also has two grown children. Andy and Beth attend Bethel Baptist Church in Marquette where he can sometimes be found in the sound booth. Andy also does some photography, enjoys camping with his family, and is an amateur radio operator.



Norma Aho
Norma Aho has been a part-time announcer with Gospel Opportunities since 1985, and now also severs as our bookkeeper. Norma works full-time for Edward D Jones. Norma attends Bible Baptist Church in Ishpeming. She enjoys reading and traveling, and owns a naughty kitty named Jasper.
Beth Larsen
Beth Larsen began working at WHWL in the mid 90s while in high school. She continued working through college, then moved to Indiana where she taught piano at a Christian school for 16 years. Beth returned to our staff in 2016 while on summer break as she was making plans to get married and return to Michigan. She and Andy have been married since 2016, and have two children together--Christian & Lydia. Beth loves animals. Beth and Andy attend Bethel Baptist Church in Marquette, where she serves on the worship board and shares her talents on the worship team. Beth enjoys playing the piano, gardening, camping, being a mom, and binge watching The Amazing Race on Amazon Video. Beth is also an amateur radio operator. Her life verses are Romans 12:1-2.
Donna Carpenter
Donna Carpenter started in early 1986 as a part-time announcer with Gospel Opportunities. She currently works fill in as needed. Donna and her husband Herb attend Bible Baptist Church in Ishpeming. They have four grown children and two grandchildren. Donna enjoys biking, hiking, cross-country skiing, playing the piano, and reading. They also enjoy hospitality and teaching God's Word.
Kristie Carpenter
Kristie Carpenter accepted Christ as her savior at the age of 12. She started as a part-time announcer in 2004. Kristie works full-time for the State of Michigan in the MDHHS. She and her husband Jon have two boys, Benjamin and Joshua, and attend  Bible Baptist Church. Kristie enjoys family time, kayaking, reading and writing. She also loves serving in church and community ministries. Her first missions trip was to Guyana in South America in 2007. Request time is her favorite shift to work.
Kaitlyn Millin
Kaitlyn Millin started working for Gospel Opportunities in July, 2018. She is the middle child of three girls, and lives with her family on a farm in Trenary. Kaitlyn attends Bethel Baptist Church. She also does babysitting and works during the summer months at Mama Cow's ice cream shop in Chatham. Kaitlyn enjoys participating in historical role-playing during the summer at Fort Wilkins in Copper Harbor; she also loves to tap and play music. Kaitlyn plays four instruments and is fluent in two languages. In 2014, she lived in Guatemala for three months. She is currently attending NMU to pursue her degree in elementry education.
Lisa Polkinghorne
Lisa Polkinghorne has been on staff since June 2020. Lisa and her husband Paul have been married for 20 years and have two kids. P.J. (from Paul’s prior marriage) is 32 years old and Aria is 13 years old. Paul & Lisa also have 4 grandsons. Lisa loves to go for walks and has loved roller skating since getting her first pair of metal clip on skates when she was 7 yrs old. She and Aria also love going to the beach in the summer. Aria is a water bug while Lisa reads and watches from the sand. They attend Harvey Baptist Church where Lisa also prepares the weekly bulletin and Scriptures to be shown on the screen up front during
 
the sermon. She got her first experience at being an announcer when she worked as a D.J. at the Peninsula Roller Rink in Marquette. Lisa loves working at WHWL and sees it as fun way to serve the Lord. One of her favorite Scriptures is 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18: "Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."
Sue Goodwin
Sue Goodwin has been working for Gospel Opportunities since 1993. She and her husband Dick attend Bethel Baptist Church in Marquette. In her free time, Sue enjoys sewing and gardening.
Dave Nelson
Dave Nelson has been on staff here at Gospel Opportunities since 2000. Dave attends church with his wife and children at Calvary Baptist Church in Negaunee. He is employed full-time by PotlatchDeltic. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing the guitar and singing. Dave enjoys his time on-air with the Gospel Opportunities Radio Network and says, "it has been a privilege to serve our listeners behind the scenes, bringing them spiritual comfort and teaching by way of radio and Internet."
Jonathan Carpenter
Jonathan Carpenter began working part time at Gospel Opportunities while in high school. Jon currently works full time at asplundh tree service. Jon graduated from Frontier School of the Bible with a double major, and enjoys being a missionary and evangelist, but also calls himself a grease monkey. Jonathan's favorite verse is Jeremiah 20:9. Jon and Kristie have been married since 2006 and have two boys. Jon and his family attend Bible Baptist Church.
Tony Beauchamp
Tony Beauchamp has been on our staff since 2013. Tony and his wife Lisa have four kids: Bryce, Desi, Tanner and Jacob. Tony and his family attend Bible Baptist Church in Ishpeming. Outside of WHWL, Tony is a supervisor for a company that provides alarm monitoring and answering service. He enjoys sports, spending time with his family, and writing, and says he's "just a sinner saved by grace passing by in a temporary world." An interesting fact about Tony is that he can do a walking hand stand.
John Thomsen
John has been married to his wife Sandy for over 45 years. They have three children and seven grandchildren. John and Sandy are members of Bethel Baptist Church. John works full-time at Queen City Running Company in Marquette. He says his interest in working with the ministry comes not only from service to the Lord, but also his long-time love of radio. John has a long personal history in radio, having done news for two different U.P. networks for over 20 years, as well as continuing to do radio play-by-play announcing for high school and college sports. John says radio is the theater of the mind and fuels the imagination. “I would say I have an old-fashioned spirit by today’s standards, but that’s what makes WHWL a good fit for me as a part-time job.” John regularly does Friday evenings and two Sunday evenings per month, as well as filling in on other shifts. We welcome John’s voice and  experience to the Gospel Opportunities Radio Network.
Diane Augustyn
Diane Augustyn, from Trenary, is currently attending Central Michigan University. Diane began working at WHWL in December of 2019. Besides working and school. She plays the french horn and has played with the Marquette City and Negaunee City Band.
